TO MAKE A GOO

TO MAKE A GOO:
1. Add 1/4 cup (60 mL) of Borax to 1 cup (236 mL) of water. This becomes the diluted Borax solution used to make the Goo.

2. In a cup, add 20 mL of water and 20 mL of glue. Equal parts! Stir it up!

3. Add a drop or two of food coloring and mix in.

4. Add 15 mL of the diluted Borax solution and stir.

You have created a polyvinyl acetate polymer. The borax (Sodium Borate) is acting as the crosslinking agent or connector for the glue (polyvinyl acetate) molecules. Once the glue molecules join together to form even larger molecules called polymers, you get a thickened gel very similar to slime.
